What have we done this, 4 times now? There’s lots of ways you can take some time out with the girls; we like going to a cabin in the woods or to a beach close by. It’s really split between all of us which we prefer! There are positives and negatives about both and we can talk about that here.

Where have we been?

2016 – Love, VA cabin trip

2017 – Crabtree Falls, VA cabin trip

2018 – Sandbridge, VA beach trip (Lacado Brista)

2019 – Sandbridge, VA beach trip (Turtle Bay Resort)

2021 – Asheville, NC pride festival

Let me tell you, it’s not easy planning a trip with more than 4 people. A lot goes into it! In fact, I’m planning the next trip now, 11 months in advance.

You have to gather your participants, pick dates that work for everyone, check budgets and rates, decide who’s bringing what food and cooking on what night, plan any events you want to attend, decide on costs for rooms, ensure that deposits are paid, etc.

The way I like to plan is to create a Google Sheet and map out things for the properties you want to choose from: number of bedrooms and bathrooms, amenities like pool, hot tub, pool table, game room, theater, etc., and of course cost. I find the best way to divide cost is by splitting it percentage wise based on room size, bed size, and if it has a bathroom attached. Some people do not like that method and would prefer to split cost equally, but I personally feel that it’s not fair if you have a single person going who isn’t sharing a room with someone and therefore doesn’t have someone to split cost with, they’re really getting the short end of the stick there.
